'The table was a large one, but the three were all crowded together at one corner of it: `No room! No room!' they cried out when they saw Alice coming. `There's PLENTY of room!' said Alice indignantly, and she sat down in a large arm-chair at one end of the table.'
Requested by ~Chibi-Kaz an embarrassing long time ago really but thanks to the major doll-a-thon that was March-May for me, I've only just gotten around to finishing them. Horride of me, I know. >.<
Outfits are based off the costumes worn by the actors in the Disney park instead of the cartoon per request (something I definitely agree with). Alice is hands down my favorite of the pair. She just turned out sooo very cute. The Mad Hatter...well I like him well enough but I'm a bit (see:entirely too much) of a perfectionist and...I'm not sure I like his hat. I don't make my dolls out of felt for a reason so I really struggled with making this hat and I'm just not thrilled with the results. Oh well I suppose. As long as CK likes it that's all that matters :nods:
Nothing else new and fancy as far as technique goes with these two go. Oh, as a side note, though you can't see it in this picture, Alice does have her apron tied into a bow on her back. ^_^
Time: Alice-6 hours; Hatter-9 hours Materials: Yarn, Thread, Felt, Paper, Ink, Poly-fil, buttons Madness Factor?: Oh we're all mad here anyway, so what's the worry?
Oh Alice doll in general turn out extremely cute. (The apron is actually my favorite on her) But her the headband combo turned out very nicely, yeah. If you already know how to make hair then you're already skilled enough to do this style. Just do a chain to make the head band and tie it at the top of the head (or base if you don't want a bow). You can then sew it do the head directly if you fear it coming off.
Confession time: The cartoon totally freaked me out as a child and I don't think I've seen it since. I think the Hatter and Alice are only in Orlando's Disney World (?), so I've never seen them (California girl who's never gone so far East). If they're in Disneyland here in Anaheim, I've definitely never seen them. However, I have seen lots of pictures people have posted and they're oh, so cute!
Anyway. I ADORE Hatter's hat and Alice is quite lovely! You have such talent!
They do have Hatter and Alice in Disneyland, though I don't know where they hang out (East Coaster here), but most pictures of them are from that park.
Thank you! *blushes* I work hard on every doll and I'm always very happy when they turn out well and people like them.
Yay, it seems to just be me that has a problem with the hat, but I'm a perfectionist so when they don't match my mental image...I tend to be very critical of it.
Oh I love how Alice looks Everything just worked when I made it for her and I couldn't be happier with how she turned out. Thanks!
Now I really, really want to make a doll with a headband so I can try to make her hair like that...
